Anyone found a good alternative to gmail.com for using the Hangouts chat? I hate using Chrome, and I don't really like having to have Safari open at gmail.com to be able to receive messages on my Mac. I downloaded Flamingo, and while it actually works pretty well, it doesn't support group chats, which is a deal breaker for me. Any other good apps out there that support Hangouts? The extension puts a Hangouts bubble in the OS X status bar. When clicked, the bubble opens little chat windows on your desktop, similar to how they open within the Gmail window. I tried it about a week ago and had a group chat with two of my work colleagues. I can't remember if the group was initiated by myself or my teammates however. All I'm certain of is that it allowed me to participate in the group chat. Perhaps that's the difference? I installed 'hangouts for mac' from the hangouts site, which installed a 'google apps launcher' entry which i could add to the dock.
